Homophobic County Clerk Kim Davis is being sued for over $200,000 after she refused to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples last year.

The American Civil Liberties Union said it is seeking to recover money it paid to lawyers, to represent a number of couples who were denied marriage licenses, in Rowan County, Kentucky, because of Davis.

The amount it is looking to recuperate is in excess of $233,000.

Davis refused to issues licenses last year after the US Supreme Court ruled that same-sex marriage was legal in all 50 states.

Four couples (two same-sex ones and two straight ones) sued Davis, in her capacity as County Clerk, for refusing to issue licenses to anyone following the ruling.

She was jailed for several days after a judge found her in contempt of court for refusing to comply with repeated notices to issue the licenses.

While she was incarcerated her deputies issued licenses.

Eventually, the state removed the need for a Clerk’s signature to be on the document and the case was dismissed.

The Liberty Counsel, who has represented Davis, has yet to respond to the case and whether it will be representing Davis.

Recently, Mick Huckabee was forced to pay $25,000 in a settlement for playing ‘Eye of the Tiger’ at a rally in support of Kim Davis.

At the Democratic convention in July, the Human Rights Campaign warned that Trump would bring in Kim Davis-style laws.
