Barbra Streisand called Apple CEO Tim Cook to complain Siri says her name wrong

Music legend Barbra Streisand has a reputation as the ultimate diva – and she’s definitely not mellowed over time.

The veteran gay icon,74, revealed her hilarious experience taking a complaint to the top in an interview with NPR’s Weekend Edition.

The Oscar-winner explained dismay that the iPhone’s virtual assistant Siri was incorrectly pronouncing her last name Straisand.

It’s ‘Strei-sand’ as in ‘sand’, and not ‘Strei-zand’ as Siri had erroneously assumed. “I’ve been saying this for my whole career”, she bemoaned.

Most people might assume that when a robot mispronounces your name, there probably isn’t much you can do to reason with it.

Most people aren’t Barbra Streisand.

The diva recalled that faced with the unsurpassable tech hurdle, she had no choice but to take her complaint to the very top, taking her complaint to Apple’s CEO Tim Cook.

She said:  “And so what did I do?”

“I called the head of Apple, Tim Cook, and he delightfully agreed to have Siri change the pronunciation of my name, finally, with the next update on September 30. So let’s see if that happens because I will be thrilled.”

“So let’s see if that happens because I will be thrilled.”

Our all-time favourite Streisand diva demand has to be the concessions she demanded ahead of 2012 comedy The Guilt Trip.

The film was due to shoot on the Paramount Pictures lot in LA, an hour’s car ride away from her house.

But Streisand told producers she couldn’t make the journey because she gets “a little carsick sometimes” – which led to the entire production being moved to a warehouse within a convenient distance from her home.

Barbra Streisand recently announced she will appear at an LGBT fundraiser for Hillary Clinton in September.
