The actress has spoken out about the pressures of conforming to Hollywood ideals.

Kristen Stewart has discussed her relationship with actor Robert Pattinson – describing their pairing as a “product”.

The Twilight co-stars began dating in 2008, before splitting in 2014, with the actress claiming the relationship became “not real life”.

“People wanted me and Rob to be together so badly that our relationship was made into a product,” Stewart told The New York Times.

“It wasn’t real life anymore. And that was gross to me. It’s not that I want to hide who I am or hide anything I’m doing in my life,” she added.

“It’s that I don’t want to become a part of a story for entertainment value.”

Stewart recently said that she is “happier” since going public about her sexuality.

“When I was dating a guy I was hiding everything that I did because everything personal felt like it was immediately trivialised, so I didn’t like it,” she told Elle magazine.

“We were turned into these characters and placed into this ridiculous comic book, and I was like, ‘That’s mine. You’re making my relationship something that it’s not.’ I didn’t like that.

“But then it changed when I started dating a girl It opened my life up and I’m so much happier,” she revealed.

Referring to girlfriend Alicia Cargile, she said: “I’m just really in love with my girlfriend.

“We’ve broken up a couple of times and gotten back together, and this time I was like, ‘Finally, I can feel again’.”

The Still Alice star came out earlier this year after allowing herself to be photographed with Cargile.

It was unclear at the time whether Stewart was actually out the closet, but responding to a question about her sexuality last year she alluded to the rumours by saying: “Google me, I’m not hiding.”
