The sci-fi show – which ended in 2011 – is a spin-off from Doctor Who and follows the adventures of a team of alien hunters.

“I have a phone conversation on Monday to see how we can get it back on television,” he told Zap2It.

“The fans know me well enough, I’m only going to say it if I mean it and believe it,” he added.

The show might have ended but that hasn’t stopped the star from continuing its legacy. He and sister Carole co-wrote a Torchwood comic together.

The pair hope that the comic will spark interest in a return to television.

“If you really believe in Torchwood, get the comic,” Barrowman told fans. “It’s like a kickstarter. If you buy the comic, you’ll show your support. We need Captain Jack back on the screens!”

In May, fans struggled to contain their excitement after it was announced that Barrowman had reunited with co-stars Eve Myles and Gareth David Lloyd for a new radio play.

Torchwood: Outbreak is a full-cast audio mini-series from Big Finish and will be released as a box-set in November 2016.

Barrowman hit headlines for slightly different reason earlier this year – after taking a tumble on the set of Loose Women.

The Arrow actor was visiting the popular ITV show today when he attempted to show off the red kitten heels he had donned for the occasion.

Barrowman swivelled in his chair to prop his feet up on the desk… but he ended up taking a tumble, to the shock of the panellists.

Sadly, it’s not the only slip the actor made this year.

The Torchwood showed off rather more than he expected during a live-stream with fans.

Barrowman was live-streaming a chat with fans from a Palm Springs hot tub when his husband Scott Gill happened to get in too… completely naked.
