The editor has been banned after allegedly subjecting actress Leslie Jones to repeated racial abuse.

Controversial Breitbart editor Milo Yiannopoulos has been permanently banned by Twitter following accusations of racial abuse.

Ghostbusters star Leslie Jones was forced to quit the site earlier this week, following weeks of racial abuse towards her.

Before leaving the site, the comedian accused Breitbart’s technology editor Yiannopoulos – also known as @nero – as the source of the abuse.

She also claimed that Twitter does not do enough to protect users from such attacks.

Jones – who stars in the all women remake of the ’80s classic – shared a host of offensive tweets blaming her for Aids and comparing her to a gorilla.

The actress later wrote that it was “with tears and a very sad heart” that she was exiting the site.

A number of publications, including the BBC, later confirmed that Yiannapoulos had orchestrated much of the abuse against the actress

Yiannopoulos – who last year said he wished he could cure his homosexuality – says his account has now been shut down by Twitter and will not be restored.

A screenshot of a message sent to him by Twitter said he had broken its rules “prohibiting participating in or inciting targeted abuse of individuals”.

He had received “repeated warnings” about similar issues in the past, the message added.

Unsurprisingly, the writer – who received the ban minutes before appearing at a ‘Gays For Trump’ event during the Republican National Convention – was quick to lash out at the “cowardly” social media site.

“With the cowardly suspension of my account, Twitter has confirmed itself as a safe space for Muslim terrorists and Black Lives Matter extremists, but a no-go zone for conservatives,” Yiannopoulos told Breitbart.

“This is the end for Twitter. Anyone who cares about free speech has been sent a clear message: you’re not welcome on Twitter.”
