The GoFundMe page for victims of the Orlando gay club mass shooting on Sunday, is the fastest ever page to reach $1 million.

The page was started to raise money for the victims of the attack, which left 50 dead, and more than 50, and their families.

It was started on Sunday, the same day as the shooting, and by Monday afternoon, the page had raised over $1.7 million, seeing donations from more than 42,000 individuals.

By Monday evening the GoFundMe page had passed $2 million.

The vice president of communications for GoFundMe, Dan Pfeiffer, tweeted on Monday to say it was the fastest in the company’s history to reach a million dollars.

Started by Equality Florida, the page said it was working with “experts and lawyers” in order to distribute the funds.

50 people were killed and 53 injured yesterday in the shocking terrorist hate crime attack, which saw a gunman open fire inside The Pulse gay bar in Orlando, Florida.

ISIS has since claimed responsibility for the attack, which was perpetrated by US citizen Omar Mateen. The majority of the victims were Latino.

In a statement, President Obama mourned the victims of the homophobic hate crime attack and called for greater restrictions on arms sales.

In response, Republican nominee Donald Trump said Obama should resign for failing to rally against Islam in his comments.

The attack has been condemned by American Muslim leaders, who addressed ISIS in saying: “You do not speak for us.”
