Ted Cruz: We need anti-LGBT laws so Trump ‘can’t dress up as Hillary’ to get into girls’ bathroom

Presidential wannabe Ted Cruz has continued his militantly anti-LGBT stance by cracking transphobic jokes at the expense of his rivals.

The right-wing Senator Cruz remains in the Presidential race to ‘block’ Mr Trump from getting the Republican nomination, even though it is now mathematically impossible for him to win outright himself.

Senator Cruz has strongly backed new anti-LGBT ‘religious freedom’ laws allowing religious people to discriminate against married gay couples and trans people, and also claimed transgender people are a threat to his daughters.

He doubled down on his anti-trans policies over the weekend, by cracking jokes about Donald Trump after Mr Trump came out in favour of trans rights.

Cruz said: “Earlier this week Donald Trump went on the Today Show and he decided to agree with Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama that we need to allow grown men to use the little girls’ bathrooms.

“This is a matter of basic common sense. For Donald to agree with Hillary and Obama, that is political correctness on steroids.

“Let me make things real simple: Even if Donald Trump dresses up as Hillary Clinton, he shouldn’t be using the girls’ restroom.

“By the way I apologize for that image, it is going to haunt you at night, Donald in a bright blue pantsuit.

“Let me just say to Jimmy Fallon and the Tonight Show. Please give us that image.”

Let us just say, to Ted Cruz and his campaign… please stop being a bigot.

His rhetoric parrots the most extreme anti-LGBT groups campaigning on the issue, with one ad depicting a man raping a little girl in a bathroom. Rape is illegal in all 50 states.

It’s not just trans people Cruz has an issue with: he’s also pledged to void all same-sex marriages and faces tough questions about his links with ‘death to gays’ pastors.
