After the couple kissed, the video shows a man in a dark shirt and shorts approaching them, and slapping Schaeffer to the ground.

The man is then seen putting the victim in a headlock using his legs, and hit him for a whole minute.

Shockingly around a dozen bystanders look on as the attack happens.

Some are even seen laughing and walking off.

When Danko tried to step in and help his boyfriend, an accomplice is seen trying to stop him from doing so.

Investigators are still looking into the attack which took place at around 3am on 14 March.

The couple say the incident should be treated as a hate crime by investigators, after witnesses said the attacker used anti-gay slurs.

“The subjects in this case happen to be gay individuals and that’s part of our investigation to see what provoked that attack,” said Miami Beach police officer Ernesto Rodriguez.

The victim was left with some minor injuries, and police are pursuing a felony battery charge for the man responsible.

An attorney has been hired by the couple, who are pushing for it to be treated as a hate crime.
