Fox News hires Duck Dynasty star who couldn’t figure out if being gay is a choice

Fox News has hired one of the personalities from Duck Dynasty, who has been embroiled in several controversies surrounding his views on gay issues.

Willie Robertson will have his own podcast on Fox News, which will focus on “faith and family”, the channel has announced.

He is also going to join the network as an official correspondent.

The Robertson family in January officially endorsed Donald Trump for President, saying he is a “friend of the Second Amendment”.

Willie has defended his father Phil, the Duck Dynasty patriarch multiple times when he vented anti-gay views.

Phil Roberston in January labelled same-sex marriage ‘wicked nonsense’ at a Ted Cruz rally.

This isn’t the first time the preach has encouraged violence, after giving a gruesome sermon about the murder of atheists last year.

The anti-gay reality star was suspended from the A&E reality show for less than two weeks in 2013, when he questioned in an interview to GQ why gay men would prefer “a man’s anus” over a vagina.

He defended his father’s anti-gay comments made in recent years, saying they were about “forgiveness, ultimately.”

In 2014 Willie said he was unsure whether being gay is a choice.

The show has since remained on the air – despite Robertson continuing to deliver homophobic sermons claiming that sexually transmitted infections are God’s punishment for gays, and that“biblically correct” sex is always safe.

Senator Cruz is also notorious for anti-LGBT views, and was one of four Republican Presidential candidates to sign a pledge to amend the Constitution to ban same-sex marriage.

Robertson is not the only homophobic extremist Cruz has ties with – in recent weeks he ducked calls to condemn a pastor he shared a stage with, who repeatedly said gay people should be put to death.
