A video of Ellis’ partner Shalee talking to their daughter about the fact that her dad was transitioning is now going viral, after being posted in January.

“Daddy’s a she now?” the daughter asks in the video. “Yes, and how does that make you feel?” Shalee asks.

“Good!” the daughter responds.

After Shalee explains that they had been on a date, and that Ellis had bought new clothes and makeup and that she would be growing her hair out, their daughter says: “Daddy, I love you so much. Even though you’re a her, I still love you.”

In the original Facebook post in which Mallory announced she was transitioning, she wrote: “It has come to my attention in the past few months that I don’t like the person I am.”

“I have become this terrible man that I don’t know anymore. About a month ago I finally came to the realisation that that is not the person I want to be, because that is not me. Literally.”

Accompanying the video, Shalee writes: “I have been asked several times about how Layla responded to being told about her dad being transgender. I turned my camera on half way through the conversation, and this is what ensued. #unconditionallove #transgender #hatredistaught”
