A man has been arrested in West Fargo, North Dakota after he aimed a loaded gun at his teenage daughter after she came out as a lesbian.

Kamiran Bakir was taken into custody earlier this week on a felony charge of terrorising.

Police responded after receiving a phone call from Bakir’s daughter, who told authorities that her father had told he was going to “blow her head off.”

Bakir pointed a gun at his daughter – who reports state is 16 or 17 – and relatives who were in the back seat of his car while at a gas station.

The father surrendered the gun to officers, claiming that he did not intend to harm his daughter – but was “upset that she is a lesbian”.

Bakir’s daughter told police that, earlier that evening, he told her “she was lucky that she’s not 18 because he would have put a bullet in her head.”

A relative said he was particularly upset because “homosexuality goes against his religion”, which is believed to be Islam.

Bakir posted $1,000 bail. His next hearing is set for March 30.

Earlier this month, a similar incident saw a man arrested for trying to attack his daughter with a knife after she too came out as a lesbian.

Ike Wright of Nashville, Tennessee was charged over with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after he became “enraged” when he found out about his daughter’s sexuality.

Back in December, another young woman told of how her father had tried to attack her because she was a lesbian – but this time got more than he bargained for.

The woman told fellow Reddit users that her father had “exploded at her” due to her sexuality and attempted to beat her up.

However, the woman, who is a trained black belt, managed to throw her homophobic father to the floor.
