British diver Tom Daley will have at least two chances to win gold at this year’s Summer Olympics Rio de Janeiro.

Tom Daley and diving partner Daniel Goodfellow won the bronze medal at the 10m synchronized diving event at the Diving World Cup which – also held in Rio – earlier this week.

The pair – who won gold at the British National Cup last month – beat US team David Boudia and Steele Johnson for another chance at an Olympic win.

“Conditions for the final were actually really tough,” Daley said in a YouTube video he posted after the competition.

“The standard was high and anything and everything you could think of as obstacles was thrown at us.”

Daley said that the harsh weather condition – including rain, a lightning delay and a wind so strong that it nearly blew he and Goodfellow off their diving boards.

In August, Daley qualified for the Olympics in the 10-metre platform event.

At the Summer Olympics in London in 2012, the star won the 10-meter platform bronze medal and finished fourth in the synchro event.

The Olympic diver announced his engagement last year to his screenwriter partner –  Dustin Lance Black –  who was behind Oscar-winning gay rights biopic Milk.

The pair opened up about their lives together in a joint interview with Out magazine recently – with Daley revealing how he kept his planned proposal from being discovered.

Black – whose previous plans to propose on Tower Bridge were thwarted by TV cameras – explained: “I go into the bathroom to get ready for bed and come out in my underwear, and that’s when he drops down on one knee and proposes to me.”
