The senate approved a bill that includes an unconstitutional ban on anal and oral sex.

The Michigan senate recently passed a bill that reaffirms the unconstitutional state ban on anal sex.

SB 219 – sponsored by Senator Rick Jones – would make anal and oral sex felonies punishable by up to 15 years imprisonment.

The legislation is part of an animal protection bill, aimed at banning animal abusers from adopting pets.

However, many have called for part of the bill to be amended, due to its various comparisons between beastality and sodomy – or gay sex.

“A person who commits the abominable and detestable crime against nature with mankind or with any animal is guilty of a felony punishable by imprisonment for no more than 15 years,” it states.

If the defendant is already a sex offender, violations are punishable by up to life.

Republican senator Jones claimed removing the words banning sodomy would jeopardise the whole bill – even though a ban on gay sex cannot be made legal, after the Supreme Court’s ruling that gay sex should be legal in every state.

“The minute I cross that line and I start talking about the other stuff, I won’t even get another hearing. It’ll be done,” he told The New Civil Rights Movement.

“Nobody wants to touch it. I would rather not even bring up the topic, because I know what would happen.

“You’d get both sides screaming and you end up with a big fight that’s not needed because it’s unconstitutional.”

Republicans in Michigan have repeatedly tried to force the state to violate the Constitution by ignoring the Supreme Court ruling on same-sex marriage.

The Supreme Court ruled over the summer that same-sex marriage is a constitutionally-protected right, cementing marriages in all 50 states.

However, Republicans last month tried to get the entire state of Michigan to defy the ruling.
