The singer opened Super Bowl 50 with a rendition of The Star-Spangled Banner.

Lady Gaga’s stunning rendition of the US national anthem – which opened the world’s most viewed sporting event – has won praise from music and sports fans alike.

Dressed in all red, and accompanied by a pianist, the singer was congratulated for her gospel inspired performance, with many welcoming the star’s decision to keep the performance simple.

As well being an important night for sports fans, the Superbowl is also renowned for its epic and memorable music performances.

Beyonce took to the stage to join Coldplay and Bruno Mars for their halftime show – with many claiming the singer stole the British rock band’s thunder – especially after releasing a surprise track the day before.
