The German version of Men’s Health magazine will later this year feature an out trans model.

Ben Melzer, a fitness model, will appear on the April cover of the magazine.

He appears in a video on Bild.de, talking about appearing on the cover, and issues he’s faced being transgender.

Speaking in German, Melzer says he was “never a typical girl”, pointing to a picture of himself crying, explaining it was because he was made to wear pink.

Melzer says he began to transition at the age of 23, and he couldn’t be happier with himself now, saying his outer and inner self are now aligned.

He says he wants the newfound publicity to give hope to those living with gender dysphoria.

Asked why he decided to come out publicly, Melzer says it is not a hard question to answer.

He says when he was younger he had nobody to speak to, so he wants to ensure others don’t have to go through the same thing.

Last year trans model and bodybuilder Aydian Dowling was a runner up in the US Men’s Health Ultimate Guy competition.

Dowling in August travelled to New York for a photoshoot as one of five finalists in a Men’s Health cover competition.
