As well as AIDS, North Korea now claims to have cured hangovers…

As well as claiming to have cured AIDS and ebola, North Korea says it has got a cure for a fairly common problem – the hangover.

Scientists in the dictatorial state claim to have produced alcohol, which when consumed, does not give people a hangover.

The source of this amazing power, you ask? Ginseng root.

Called a “national scientific and technological hit”, the “cure” is based on the same root, which they say is the basis for the other cures.

Sugar is replaced with burnt rice in the recipe for the liquor which is said to have no bitter taste.

The Koryo liquor, referred to in the article as “the elixir of life”, was apparently created at the Taedonggang Foodstuff Factory.

“Koryo Liquor, which is made of six-year-old Kaesong Koryo insam, known as being highest in medicinal effect, and the scorched rice, is highly appreciated by experts and lovers as it is suave and causes no hangover,” claims the article.

It is described as being “suave and causes no hangovers”, in an article in the Pyongyang Times.

The article was titled: “Liquor wins quality medal for preserving national smack.”

The state media has made a number of strange claims, including that the supreme leader of the country Kim Jong-un learned to drive a car at the age of three.
