Smith is nominated for his Bond theme Writing’s On the Wall, while Gaga is nominated for ‘Til It Happens To You from documentary The Hunting Ground.

Other’s looking to win at the awards include Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara, who are both nominated for their roles in the critically-acclaimed lesbian love story, Carol.

Eddie Redmayne is also aiming for an Oscar double after being nominated for Best Actor for The Danish Girl – twelve months after winning the same prize for The Theory of Everything.

However, neither movie made the shortlist for Best Film – which featured The Revenant, Bridge of Spies, Room and Mad Max: Road To Fury on its list of nominees.

Meanwhile, hotly-tipped trans drama Tangerine did not receive any Oscar nominations, after it was hoped the star’s of the film would make history by becoming the first trans actresses to win an Academy Award.
