The actress challenges the homophobic police officer in a powerful new video.

Ellen Page confronts a policeman in Brazil, who has boasted about killing gay men.

The actress conducted the interview as part of her new Vice travel series Gaycation, which is to be aired on the company’s new TV channel, Viceland.

In the video, Page can be seen tackling the openly homophobic officer (6.22 minutes in) with her best friend and co-host Daniel.

“For me, they are worse than animals,” the policeman says.

“I think every pigsty must be cleaned up. If they cross my path, I’ll take of them.”

Page – who is clearly shaken by the comments – then checks to see if is safe to reveal her sexuality, before asking: “We’re gay. And I’m wondering if you think it’s better for the world for us to be dead?”

The openly gay actress later described the powerful encounter as “one of the more scary, nerve-wracking moments I’ve had”.

Daniel added of the encounter: “A person who is standing in front of you is saying I’ve killed people like you, I’m going to do it again, and there are other people like me who are killing people like you.

“It’s scary in that it’s just hard to hear.”

This isn’t the first time the actress has tackled a homophobe, after an encounter with anti-gay Republican Ted Cruz last year – which is also shown in the promo.

The Juno star, who came out as gay in 2014, cornered the Presidential wannabe as he was flipping burgers for a campaign photo op at the Iowa State Fair – and proceeded to grill him about his homophobic beliefs.

The X Men actress also attended a Pride event in Jamaica last August – despite warnings that activists face vigilante violence.
