This mum did something amazing with her tattoo of her trans kid

Parents sometimes go above and beyond to do the right thing for their kids, and this mother did just that.

After Lindsay Peace’s son came out as trans, she had a decision to make about the tattoo she has of him.

She has tattoos of all her kids Ace, Elliot and Hamish – Ace came out as trans as a teenager.

But rather than just having the tattoo of Ace as a little girl removed, as she initially thought she would, Lindsay did something amazing.

Ace’s dad, Steve, suggested that she have the tattoo updated to reflect Ace’s transition.

Overylaying the dress with a pair of shorts and a t-shirt, a flower on the dress was changed to a slingshot.

Steve, a tattoo artist, said they “just winged it”, but that they were glad they did.

Speaking to HuffPost, he said: “Luckily it worked!”

Ace found out about the tattoo change as a surprise. The 15-year-old was very excited to discover the transformation.

“He loved it. Every step we have in this journey of ours he just gets happier and happier,” he said.

The change was displayed on the Facebook page of the Immaculate Concept Tattoo, Steve’s workplace.

Saying the reaction had been “100 percent positive”, Steve said: “I guess there are people out there that have negative opinions, but thankfully they’re keeping it to themselves.”

On the Facebook post of the image, one user shared their own story of having a trans kid.

They wrote: “That’s so rad! My oldest is also FTM Transgender. This is such a great post, so inclusive and accepting!”

Steve continued: “You have to support your kids. I mean, it’s tough when you hear that as a parent, but you have to be strong for your kids. You have to come to terms with it yourself, on your own time, and just have to offer 100 percent support.”
