A musician who made anti-gay comments earlier this year has released a free track for LGBT fans to apologise.

Lithuanian ‘Walking With Elephants’ producer Ten Walls, whose debut song broke into the UK’s top ten last year, posted an anti-gay rant to Facebook earlier this year referring to LGBT people as people of a “different breed”, likening them to paedophiles.

The musician, real name Marijus Adomaitis, has repeatedly issued sincere apologies for his comments, reaching out to LGBT groups and educating himself on equality issues.

He wrote: “My post was linked to homophobia and was very offensive.

“I am ashamed to have hurt so many people: my family, my country, my colleagues, my friends, the Global LGBT community and many others. Since then I have taken time out to reflect on what I did and work out a way of apologizing that expresses how sorry I am.”

The musician has this week taken his apology further – releasing free track ‘Shining’ via LGBT rights group LGL.

The LGL said: “It is symbolic that the new song by Ten Walls is being premiered exclusively at the webpage of the Lithuanian LGBT* organization.

“One of the main principles of our organization is to build bridges rather than barriers. We can become a community free from fears and prejudices only by being open and ready to learn from our mistakes.

“The National LGBT* rights organization LGL applauds the initiative by Ten Walls to premier his new song “Shining” at the web platform of the national LGBT* organization.

“We firmly believe that this will become a small step towards creating an open and inclusive environment in the Lithuanian society.”

The track is  a collaboration with transgender singer Alex Radford.

The musician wrote: “Behind the walls of silence stood emotional, sleepless and creativity – filled days and nights. Together with Alex we made it and it is yours now.

“I would especially like to thank Lithuanian LGBT Community LGL for their support all this time. Therefore the premiere of “Shining” will take place in their official website.”
