A police officer on Monday approached two groups of teenagers – the outcome was probably not what they expected.

The exchange took place in Washington earlier this week when the police officer approached the teenagers in an attempt to disperse them.

One of the teenagers, Aaliyah Taylor, 17, from Ballou High School, approached the officer playing ‘Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae)’ on her phone.

A police inspector has taken the internet by storm as a video of her dancing to ‘Footloose’ at Manchester Pride has gone viral.

In an attempt to send a message of positive community policing, the officer laughed and offered her best dance moves.

“Instead of us fighting, she tried to turn it around and make it something fun,” Taylor said. “I never expected cops to be that cool. There are some good cops.”

DC police confirmed that the police officer is with the department, but would not provide a name.

The officer said the teens could stay if the teenager won the dance off.

“I mostly hold my head down when I dance, so I didn’t really see her,” Taylor said. “But when I looked at the video after, I was like ‘Oh, she has some moves.’”
