Somebody get the baby oil out – Zac Efron and Dwayne Johnson will be teaming up and donning some red speedos for the new Baywatch film.

Classic 80’s show Baywatch is getting a Hollywood remake, starring Zac Efron and Dwayne Johnson.

The film – which is predicted to be similar to the recent reboot of the Jump Street films – was described by Johnson on Twitter as “big, fun and RATED R”.

The star added: “…Like me when I drink”.

In a later tweet, he asked fans to “get the baby oil out”, leading many to believe (and hope) that there will be plenty of flesh on show.

And if Efron and Johnson’s previous outings are anything to go by, fans will not be disappointed!

Zac Efron

Efron rose to stardom as teen heartthrob Troy Bolton in High School Musical, but soon shook off his shiny Disney persona to move onto more adult roles in films such as The Lucky One, That Awkward Moment and Bad Neighbours, in which he proved to audiences that he had grown up – and beefed up too.

Dwayne Johnson is another actor unafraid to get his guns out. Originally a star of the wrestling world – fighting as The Rock for WWE – Johnson’s extensive cinematic credits include The Scorpion King, Hercules and The Fast and the Furious franchise.

Although at this stage the plot details are vague, early reports indicate that Johnson will play the traditional lifeguard role – similar to that of David Hasslehoff in the original series – who has to work with a more rebellious character, played by Efron, in order to stop oil tycoons polluting their precious beach.

There is no word yet as to whether Baywatch legends Pamela Anderson or The Hoff will make an appearance in the upcoming remake – however, as Johnny Depp and Richard Grieco from the original Jump Street series both made appearances subsequent remakes, we’re not losing hope just yet .

Shooting for the Baywatch film should start in 2016.
