A chat show featuring Mel and Sue has been cut by ITV after failing to attract high enough viewer numbers, despite the pair’s success on the Great British Bake Off.

The show featuring Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins was launched in January.

Appearing on ITV, the daytime show apparently failed to gather a big enough following, and had an average audience of around 750,000 viewers.

Although the show has been axed by ITV, the channel said it would be keen to work with the pair in future.

“Mel and Sue are great talents and we hope to work with them on other projects in the future,” an ITV spokesperson told the Guardian.

The pair may no longer appear on ITV, but their return on the BBC’s Great British Bake Off, was accompanied by a record 9.3million viewers for its series debut last week.

‘Secret Eaters’ presenter Anna Richardson in January confirmed she is in a relationship with Perkins.
