Congrats! Team Canada’s first trans dodgeball player will make her debut this week

Team Canada is set to make history this week as it gets its first out trans dodgeball player.

Savannah Burton. Member of Team Canada and Professional actress, said she hoped to improve trans visibility.

She will take to the court at Tarkanian Basketball Academy in Las Vegas Nevada this weekend as part of Team Canada.

“My goal would be, through my participation and visibility, that other Trans people especially Trans youth feel they are able to participate at any sport they choose and will be welcomed by their respective governing organizations. Governing organizations have an obligation to provide welcoming, safe, and inclusive environments for all athletes.” said Burton.

World Dodgeball Federation World Championships August 15-16th include France, New Zealand,Australia, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Mexico, United States and Canada.

 

Medals will be awarded on Sunday 16 August.
