Football club CD Guadalajara has become the second Spanish team to take a stand against homophobia, after unveiling a new rainbow kit.

The third division side launched their new home kit over the weekend, during the Madrid Pride Festival, with the LGBT symbol of a rainbow flag running down the purple shirt.

Designed by Danish sportswear brand Hummel, the club has also announced that five per cent of sales will be donated to La Liga Acro Iris (La Liga Rainbow), a charity that tackles homophobia and other prejudice in Spanish football.

CD Guadalajara have joined Rayo Vallecano, which plays in the country’s top division, who last week unveiled a new pride-themed kit to challenge homophobia.

The club unveiled the dashing new away kit to challenge ‘social injustices’, including homophobia and the design features a prominent rainbow denoting a number of causes.

The launch of both kits have had an extremely positive reaction online, with some calling on other teams to be as serious about challenging homophobia in the sport.

For the past two years, leading gay rights charity Stonewall has sent rainbow laces to every premiership footballer and professional club in Britain in support of gay players and fans.
