A Republican group has released a bizarre political ad for Presidential hopeful Rand Paul.

The ad, released by Paul’s America’s Liberty PAC as a parody of wrestling ads, portrays him shirtless in front of fireballs and the US flag.

It comes ahead of a “showdown” over the Patriot Act – attacking President Obama “who wants to read your email” and Republican candidates Lindsay Graham and Ted Cruz.

Republican Senator Rand Paul has previously said he does not believe in the concept of gay rights.

In a video from 2013, Senator Paul said: “I don’t think I’ve ever used the words gay rights because I don’t believe in rights based on your behaviour.

“I’m pro-rights for individuals but I’m not for judging individuals based on their behaviour.”

He has previously said he is “offended” by same-sex marriage, and that it is the result of a “moral crisis”.

He said: “I’m for traditional marriage. I think marriage is between a man and a woman.

“We didn’t have to call it marriage, which offends myself and a lot of people.

“But I think competing contracts that would give them equivalency before the law would have solved a lot of these problems and it may be where we’re still headed.”
