Update: London Eye royal baby promotion now inclusive of gay couples
Following a PinkNews report, the London Eye have updated its terms and conditions to include gay couples.
In response, the London Eye have updated the terms of its promotion.
The terms and conditions previously stated: “This offer is only open to couples called Katherine (Kate, Catherine, Kathryn) and William (Will).”
This could have breached the Equality Act 2010 as it was specifically designed to apply only to heterosexual couples.
They now read: “This offer is only open to couples called Katherine (Kate, Catherine, Kathryn) and William (Will), Katherine (Kate, Catherine, Kathryn) and Katherine (Kate, Catherine, Kathryn) or William (Will) and William (Will).”
In a statement to PinkNews, a spokesperson for the London Eye said: “Today we are focussing on William and Kate as that’s the couple who have just given birth but if you check our T&Cs at the bottom of the news story on our website, you’ll see that couples called William and William along with Catherine and Catherine can also claim free tickets.
“Different spellings of the names are fine too.”
The royal baby was born this morning.
The two versions of the terms and conditions are shown below:
