The “Biblically correct” parliamentary candidate Susan Anne White is being investigated by the police.

The candidate this week said that gay people were 40 times more likely to abuse children.

She was defending the DUP’s Jim Wells who was forced to resign after suggesting gay parents were more likely to abuse children.

Ms White, who is standing in West Tyrone, last week unveiled her “biblically correct” manifesto.

At a hustings in Omagh she said: “In the main, what Jim Wells said was correct and I can prove it.

“Are you interested in the truth? Is anybody interested in the truth?

“Studies have shown that homosexuals are 40 times more likely than the general populace to abuse children.”

Asked if heterosexual people abused children, she said:“Heterosexuals can abuse children. Because the heart of man is depraved.

“Of course heterosexuals can and have abused children, but the subject we are discussing here are the comments made by Jim Wells. Keep on topic!”

Chief Inspector Joe McMinn said: “Police are making enquiries after receiving a complaint about comments made at a debate in the Strule Arts Centre in Omagh on Tuesday.”

In Ms White’s manifesto were pledges to “oppose the Islamification of British culture”, “make adultery a punishable offence” and “restore corporal punishment to schools”.

She stood in local elections last year and received a total of 67 votes.

She has said: “I believe in a God who can work miracles but, realistically speaking, I don’t think I will win.

“My concern is not so much with winning, it is with trying, and to try is not to fail.

“In standing I have a wider platform than I would if I did not stand, and many people will hear the Biblical message and principles.”
