US actor and singer Jamie Foxx has been criticised for making jokes about Bruce Jenner amid speculation about his gender identity.

The 47-year-old took to the stage at the iHeart Radio Music Awards at the weekend, and made the jokes about the former Olympian.

The speech followed performances by Iggy Azalea, Jennifer Hudson and Nick Jonas.

In the opening monologue, Foxx said: “We got Bruce Jenner, who will be here doing some musical performances. He’s doing a his-and-her duet all by himself…

“Look. I’m just busting your balls while I still can.”

Many took to social media to express disbelief at the jibes.

Bruce Jenner is rumoured to be transitioning to female, but has not personally confirmed that. Their mother confirmed speculation about their gender identity earlier this year.

In 2013, Foxx and other Hollywood stars appeared in a public service announcement (PSA) raising awareness about homeless LGBT youth in Los Angeles.
