Anti-gay campaigner Peter LaBarbera has compared the work of LGBT activists to recruiting children like Hitler.

Speaking on Christian network Voice of Christian Youth America, Mr LaBarbera responded to S Bear Bergman’s tongue in cheek article entitled ‘I Have Come to Indoctrinate Your Children Into My LGBTQ Agenda’.

In the interview he claimed:

“Homosexual activists know that they have to change the minds of young people, like all radical movements. We saw this under the Communists, under Hitler. They need to penetrate the minds of the youth.”

“[they] will never bring in an ‘ex-gay’” to address students “because then kids can see that homosexuality is not about who you are, it’s about what you do, and if you can practice homosexuality you can leave homosexuality, you can leave it behind with the help of Jesus Christ.”

Mr LaBarbera is the founder of the anti-gay organization Americans For Truth About Homosexuality (AFTH) that describes itself as “devoted exclusively to exposing and countering the homosexual activist agenda.”

In the videos posted on Right Wing Watch, Mr LaBarbera proceeded to rubbish the intentions of parents and schools that were in support of gay-straight alliances and LGBT groups in schools, saying:

The anti-gay campaigner also turned his ire upon ABC programme ‘The Fosters’ which made headlines recently for featuring what was possibly the youngest same-sex kiss ever shown on television:

“What they’re really doing is changing kids’ minds. They’re propagandizing these kids, they are victimizing our children with this evil propaganda. It’s a form of recruitment when you sell immorality as romance.”

Mr Barbera has long been an outspoken activist against LGBT rights. He was arrested and stood trial last year after distributing homophobic leaflets at a university in Canada.
