No, One Direction’s Louis Tomlinson didn’t say he was gay last night

One Direction fans are in meltdown after a video appeared to show singer Louis Tomlinson saying that he is gay.

A Vine surfaced last night of the singer, who is in Australia with the band for the On The Road Again tour, appearing to drunkenly say “I’m gay. It’s pretty unfortunate” on his way back into a hotel after a night out.

The clip sent the band’s fans into overdrive – trending “#ImGayItsPrettyUnfortunate” and “#LouisWeLoveYouNoMatterWhat” on Twitter.

However, other fans who were present at the hotel have stepped forward to explain that he was actually talking to a girl who has the same birthday as him, December 24.

One fan wrote: “Someone had said they have the same birthday as Louis, and he said ‘it’s pretty unfortunate’… not anything else, stop making up sh*t.”

The girl who uploaded the Vine, Tyla, also waded in to rubbish the rumours, saying: “I hate it how people that are in a different country are telling us what happened when I was the one that videoed it!”

Tomlinson has angrily denied rumours about his sexuality in the past – swearing at a reporter in November who questioned whether he wore a rainbow Apple t-shirt to show support for gay Apple CEO Tim Cook.

He tweeted: “The fact that you work for such a ‘credible’ paper and you would talk such rubbish is laughable. I am in fact straight.

“Google ‘original apple logo’ and you will see the one printed on my shirt that you reported on. Trying to look for a promotion?

“Fucking ridiculous I even have to tweet that shit!”

In September, bandmate Liam Payne went on a shooting trip with the stars of reality show Duck Dynasty – many of whom have attended events run by listed anti-gay hate groups.
