Sarah Palin has said that she is “seriously interested” in running for President in 2016.

The former Republican Governor of Alaska was the vice-presidential candidate of Senator John McCain in 2008, and attracted controversy for her extreme views and constant gaffes.

Palin spoke last year at the conference of a listed hate group that has compared same-sex marriage to the Holocaust – and  got the address of the White House wrong during her speech.

When asked about plans for a Presidential bid by the Washington Post, she said: “You can absolutely say that I am seriously interested. I’m really interested in the opportunity to serve at some point.”

She told ABC when asked the same question: “Yeah, I mean, of course.

“When you have a servant’s heart, when you know that there is opportunity to do all you can to put yourself forward in the name of offering service, anybody would be interested.

“America has had enough of seeing that sign on the Oval Office door saying, ‘No Girls Allowed.’ I know that.

“It doesn’t have to be myself, but yes … happy to drive that competition, because competition will make everyone better and produce more and be more candid regarding their solutions they will offer this country. I am very interested in that competitive process and, again, not necessarily me.”

In 2013, she admitted to defending a homophobic rant made by anti-gay Duck Dynasty star Phil Robertson without actually reading his comments, while she was attacked by singer Sia for sampling song Titanium without permission in her speech about Robertson.
