Did Sam Smith just announce that he has split up with Jonathan Zeizel?
Sam Smith appears to have announced that he and his boyfriend Jonathan Zeizel, have split up, after going public with their relationship two weeks ago.
The ‘Stay With Me’ singer came out in May last year, when he revealed that his album ‘In the Lonely Hour’ was about a man he fell in love with.
He later revealed that the man he wrote the album for was straight and uninterested – and spoken about his dating woes.
On stage in Toronto this week, the 22-year-old, an announcing that he would sing ‘Like I Can’, said: “This is about a very similar thing I had to do today with someone I’ve been seeing.”
He later tweeted that he had “a really sad day”, and Instagrammed a photograph of himself doing a sad face and drinking a glass of red wine.
Had a really sad day today, so thank you Toronto for making me feel so much better x

Alongside the Instagram photo, he wrote: “Sometimes you just need to lay in bed with a glass of red wine and a football T shirt and listen to Joni Mitchell. it’s been a sad day. Beautiful show, but sad day.”
Later, mentioning fellow singer Jessie Ware, he wrote:”You live and you learn. Wise words from @JessieWare tonight x.”
