A magazine has come under fire for altering a picture of Bruce Jenner – after rumours the former athlete is transgender.

InTouch magazine published a cover featuring claims that the former Olympic gold medallist – who is the stepfather of the Kardashian siblings – has transitioned to female.

Magazine condemned for photoshopped picture of Bruce Jenner as trans woman

Despite Jenner not commenting on any of the rumours, the magazine carried the headline “My Life as a Woman”

According to the New York Daily News, in response to the mock-up the family has entirely cut off contact with the magazine.

A source said: “Kris [Jenner] has cut off contact with In Touch, Life & Style and all Bauer publications.

“They won’t get any ‘real’ quotes from the family, and will be banned from Kardashian-Jenner red carpets, events, premieres and fashion events.”

The magazine appears to have used a picture of actress Stephanie Beacham as a base for the image.

Activist Janet Mock said on MSNBC: “Let’s be clear. This is not Jenner’s story. Jenner has not stepped forward as a woman or uttered a word about being transgender.

“What is true, is that the story is pure speculation, the kind of tabloid gossip I’m guilty of laughing at while getting a pedicure.

“This cover is the latest in the long line of speculation about the Olympian’s gender identity.

“The Jenner gender speculation is a modern-day freaks-how. It spreads the misconception that being trans is laughable.

“By publishing this cover, InTouch weekly tells its 400,000 readers it is acceptable to assume someone’s gender, scrutinise their body and publicly shame them in the process.

“Nothing is wrong about being trans. What’s wrong is a magazine aiming to humiliate someone by labelling them a transgender woman as if being trans and being a woman is an insult.

“Here’s a headline: Bruce Jenner is whoever Bruce Jenner says he is.”
