Stephen Fry engaged to marry stand-up comedian Elliott Spencer
Wit, author, actor and all round Twitter superstar Stephen Fry, who was instrumental in advocating publicly for the introduction of same-sex marriage, is to marry his boyfriend stand-up comedian Elliott Spencer.
The news was broken by British tabloid newspapers which have already obsessed over the age gap between the pair. Fry, who had been hoping for a private wedding, confirmed the speculation this morning:-
Oh. It looks as though a certain cat is out of a certain bag. I’m very very happy of course but had hoped for a private wedding. Fat chance!

Back in 2012, Spencer tweeted about first meeting Fry:-
I had the confidence of a gnat when I met Mr @stephenfry Show him some respect – he’s the man.

In 2012 Fry turned over his Twitter feed for the launch of the Out4Marriage campaign. Over the course of the public consultation on same-sex marriage, he shared numerous videos by celebrities, politicians and religious leaders. He recorded his own video addressing the issue of religious same-sex marriage.
