Sir Elton John to post live Instagram updates from own wedding tomorrow

Sir Elton John is set to marry his civil partner David Furnish tomorrow – and the pair will be posting live updates on social media.

The veteran singer entered into a civil partnership with Furnish in 2005, and the pair are fathers to sons Zachary and Elijah.

After regulations came in last week governing the conversion of civil partnerships to marriages, the pair have confirmed they will tie the knot tomorrow, December 21.

Sir Elton – who had previously claimed the wedding would be “low-key” – is planning to make a splash by sharing the day on social media.

The singer has set up an Instagram account to chronicle the day – and both are expected to be posting live updates of events from the ceremony in their Berkshire home.

The singer tweeted: “Join https://instagram.com/EltonJohn and https://instagram.com/DavidFurnish as we share special moments from our Wedding tomorrow #ShareTheLove”

A wedding invitation published on the account says: “Sir Elton John and David Furnish request the pleasure of your company to celebrate their wedding on Sunday the 21st of December.”

The move makes sense as the 50 people reportedly invited to the physical ceremony is far less than the 650 who attended the star’s civil partnership reception exactly nine years before – on December 21, 2006.

Sir Elton, 67, lambasted the government earlier this year when he was forced to scrap wedding plans due to the slow legislation, saying: “I think the government kind of messed that one up. We can’t do it until next year.

“However, when we do do, it will be very quiet and off the cuff – we had our big shebang when we had our civil union.”
