Cyndi Lauper has claimed that 50 Cent is now a “good guy” – despite once telling gay men to kill themselves.

In a 2010 spat with gay celebrity blogger Perez Hilton, 50 Cent tweeted: “Perez Hilton calld [sic] me douchebag so I had my homie shoot up a gay wedding. wasnt his but still made me feel better.”

The same year, 50 Cent suggested that men who do not sleep with women should “just kill” themselves.

He wrote: “If you [are] a man and your [sic] over 25 and you don’t eat pu**y just kill yourself damn it. The world will be a better place.”

The star – real name Curtis Jackson – posted the message shortly after the death of 19-year-old Tyler Clementi, who killed himself after his roommate put a secret tape of him having sex with a man on the internet.

Despite his anti-gay record, the rapper was announced as part of the line-up for Cyndi Lauper’s annual charity concert which supports LGBT homeless youth.

Cyndi Lauper paid tribute to his ‘evolution’ in an interview with Buzzfeed, saying: “50, god bless him – he’s a good guy.

“People evolve… that is what you have to leave yourself open for. You change the world when you change your mind.

“I want to inspire kids to show that they have hope.”

Daniella Carter, 20 – a youth who will speak at the concert – added: “A lot of LGBT youth come from urban backgrounds.

“[They want to see a] black heterosexual male showing that he supports us… [proving] masculinity is not attached to sexual identity.”
