Mean Girls star Daniel Franzese has recorded a parody of a Sam Smith song, about trying to get a gay one-night-stand to leave.

The actor – who played ‘too gay to function’ character Damien in the cult classic, released the parody of Smith’s Stay With Me, titled Please Go Home.

The song – which also features members of the San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus – revolves around Franzese trying to get a man he hooked up with the night before to leave.

It includes the lyrics: “Yes it’s true I just had me a one night stand. I woke up to the face of another man.

“Last night didn’t really go to plan. Should have stayed at home, spent time with my hand.

“Oh won’t you please go home? I want to be alone.”

Franzese came out in April this year in a letter to his Mean Girls character, ten years after the release of the film.

He wrote: “I was twenty-six; you were sixteen. You were proud of who you were; I was an insecure actor. You became an iconic character that people looked up to; I wished I’d had you as a role model when I was younger. I might’ve been easier to be gay growing up.”

Sam Smith came out in May, revealing that his album is about a man his fell in love with.

Smith has previously spoken out against hookup apps, saying: “No offence to people who go on Tinder but I just feel like it’s ruining romance, I really do.

“We’re losing the art of conversation and being able to go and speak to people and you’re swiping people.

“Stop Tinder and Grindr!”
