An increasing number of gay men could be choosing to wait until marriage before having sex.

Sex education Youtube channel GirlfriendsTV spoke to two men who don’t want to have sex before they wed.

Vlogger Ariella Scarella said: “We’ve all heard straight women and sometimes even straight men say they are saving themsevles for marriage – and while I think that is great, because it’s your body – it’s not something the gay community often hears about.

“Maybe it’s because in some parts of the world we will all be dead before we see gay marriage legalised. Maybe it’s because it’s easier for us to go outside the norm and not be religious, since we already kind of do that with our orientation.

Gilbert Gonzalez, from California, said: “I don’t believe it makes you a better person because you choose to not have sex before marriage.

“At the end of the day it’s your life, and the same way you should have the right to go out and have all of the sex you want, you should also have that same right to say ‘I want to wait’.”

Paul, a man from Kansas City, Missouri, said: “I choose to save sex for marriage because I believe it’s the right thing to do. I believe it is much more than an act of pleasure.

“I believe sex is first and foremost a bonding mechanism, both physiologically and spiritually. So I find that the morality of sex is in the way we use or abuse that bonding mechanism.”
