The British National Party has expelled its former leader Nick Griffin.

The far right party announced today that it has now expelled Mr Griffin, who was made to step down in July after the party was completely wiped out in the European elections.

Mr Griffin was replaced as BNP leader by former deputy chairman Adam Walker, who has described Britain as a “multicultural shithole” and was banned from teaching for life in 2013 after slashing the tyres on students’ bikes.

The 54-year-old, who was declared bankrupt in January this year,  previously described gay people as “creepy” and admitted that he would like to ban civil partnerships.

The BNP released an open letter to Mr Griffin, condemning him for “trying to cause disunity” in the party.

He is also accused of  “publication of untrue allegations against the Party” , and “harassing members of BNP staff and in at least one case making physical threats”.

Mr Griffin responded: “Breaking news! I’ve just been ‘expelled’ without trial from the #BNP! That’ll teach me to tell a member of staff he’s a ‘useless, lazy twat’.”

He added that he the party leaders were “operating outside the constitution” by expelling him, and that he intended to “ignore” them.

He was criticised last August for homophobic and racist remarks, when he labelled a Twitter user a “hysterical little poof”.

In October 2012 he was criticised for posting the address of a gay couple on the internet and calling for his supporters to demonstrate outside their Cambridgeshire home.

The party has stepped up its anti-gay rhetoric since Griffin stepped down as leader, claiming in August that a BBC boss wants to put gay porn on CBeebies.
