A man distributing leaflets comparing homosexuality to paedophilia committed “no criminal offence”, according to Leicestershire Police.

The man, dressed in a monks’ robe, was reported to police after distributing anti-gay leaflets in Leicester last month.

It was just one of a string of towns where similar leaflets describing homosexalism as a “cult” have been distributed, also surfacing in Cambridge in April, in Brighton last month, in Stoke-on-Trent earlier this month, and in Lincoln this week.

A spokesperson for Leicestershire Police told the Lincolnshire Echo that it did not take any action because the distribution of the leaflets was considered “not a criminal offence”.

They said: “It was determined that although the leaflet was offensive, no criminal offence had been committed and the case was therefore closed.”

One of the leaflets previously obtained reads in part: “The practice of homosexuality is both blasphemy against God and rebellion against nature.

“It [is] abundantly evident that a penis is made for a vagina, and not for an anus. An anus is in fact designed solely for defecation.

“Homosexuality, as well as being a sin and a vice, is essentially a neurosis, a pathological condition, the result of several factors including childhood experiences.

“Homosexualism has become a cult, and by the indoctrination of school children and regular propaganda through the media, it seeks converts.

“If the practice of homosexuality is acceptable, then in time any form of sexual deviation, perversion and experimentation will be acceptable, including the progressive lowering of the age of consent, taking it below the age of puberty, and thus legalizing paedophilia.”

Though a man distributing the leaflets was spoken to by police earlier this month in Stoke-on-Trent, similarly in that case the Crown Prosecution Service decided not to take action.
