Sam Smith reveals the man who inspired his hit album… was straight
Singer Sam Smith says the inspiration behind his first album is a straight man who he fell in love with.
Smith explained the dynamics of his relationship with the unnamed man in an interview to The Sun.
He said: “Nothing ever happened between us. I know he loved me too, but not in that way.”
The star added: “When I wrote the record I was just rally heartbroken – all I wanted to do was go to the studio and write about this guy who I fell in love with”.
Smith’s debut album ‘In the lonely hour’ reached first and second place in the UK and US music charts earlier this year.
In his worldwide hit ‘Stay with me’ Smith notably talks about the man who he fell in love with.
“He knows – I’ve told him everything and our relationship is great now,” Smith said. “But he’s very wary of how he acts around me … I feel nothing towards him now.”
