A woman who was brutally attacked near her home for being gay, has said she will attend Pride in Leicester alongside police.

Police have appealed for help finding the men who brutally attacked Kerry Byrnes hear her home in Leicestershire.

The 23-year-old was walking home after a night out last Saturday, when two men came up behind her and began spouting anti-gay abuse.

Ms Byrnes says she was hit in the face by one of the men, and after that she can’t remember much, but has been left with horrific injuries.

She will attend pride alongside members of Leicester Police’s LGBT network.

Byrnes told the Leicester Mercury that she normally would attend Pride, but that she had cancelled her plans after she was attacked. When police offered for her to join them, she decided to attend. She is currently recovering from her injuries.

Both attackers were described as white, in their 20s and about 5’7″ tall, and one had spiky blonde hair.
