During the first day of former X-Factor judge Tulisa’s drugs trial, the court heard claims that music producer Simon Cowell is gay.

Former X-Factor judge and N Dubz singer Tulisa went on trial today, accused of attempting to set up a drug deal with undercover Sun on Sunday journalist Mazher Mahmood, the Mirror reports.

Southwark Crown Court heard that Tulisa’s manager Gareth Varey had an exchange with Mahmood, who posed as a film producing Sheik, during which Varey said he knew men who had slept with music producer Cowell.

In a secret recording, Mahmood asked Varey whether Cowell was gay, to which he responded “yes”.

When asked whether he had slept with him, Varey said he had not, but continued: “One day I will, when I make my move.”

Despite saying he was not attracted to Cowell, when asked how he was so certain that Cowell is gay, Varey said: “I know people who have [slept with him].”

It is alleged that Tulisa boasted about being able to connect Mahmood with drug dealers when she met him in Las Vegas in March 2013, and two months later in a hotel in London.

Mahmood posed as ‘Samir Khan’, during the sting, and claimed he was a film producer who wanted to offer her a role in a Hollywood film alongside Leonardo Di Caprio.

Simon Cowell and girlfriend Lauren Silverman recently celebrated the birth of their first child Eric. The couple later bought an apartment on the Upper East Side in New York.

The trial will resume on Monday.
