A federal appeals court is to hear arguments around same-sex marriage bans in four US states.

The 6th Circuit Court of Appeals will hear arguments on 6 August around same-sex marriage fights in Ohio, Michigan, Kentucky and Tennessee.

The court oversees all four states.

Fifteen judges have struck down either part or all of state-level same-sex marriage bans in the past few months. None have upheld legislation banning gay couples from marrying.

The 4th Circuit court in May heard arguments around Virginia’s ban, and in April, Denver’s heard by the 10th Circuit. Rulings in both cases are expected soon.
