UK: Big Brother topless model claims same-sex marriage is ‘just not right’

  • Chrismas

lol!! Who even cares? It’s legal. Bye!

  • FGM

Coming from a topless model. Like that doesn’t corrupt your “catholic beliefs”

  • @Mike-uk2011

“I’ve got nothing against homosexuals, I just personally don’t believe in same-sex marriage.”

That’s OK, I’ve got nothing against Catholics, I just don’t believe in the Catholic ideology, and I find it an incredibly bigoted and hypocritical organization. They claim to be pro-life, but events like the recent discovery of The bodies of 796 children unceremoniously dumped in a septic tank by nuns and priests, tells me otherwise.

They believe in a talking snake and a virgin birth, but have the cheek to call two men, or two women who love each other intimately, “unnatural.”
Fortunately Catholicism doesn’t decide the state laws. At least here in the UK.

    • Harry

Catholicism is entirely suitable for a not particularly bright person like her.

    • Pádráig O’Gáirmléadháigh

..you forgot the wholesale rape of the entire worlds children for the last thousand years, and they are still at it!

      • Steven Gregory

HBO released a documentary on one of the initial discoveries of Catholic priest sexual abuse against children: MEA MAXIMA CULPA: SILENCE IN THE HOUSE OF GOD. Priests targeted children at a deaf boarding school in the middle of the last century when deaf kids were often considered mentally defective and parents often didn’t learn sign language. So the kids were isolated with nobody to tell.

The documentary wraps up with a quick overview that the recent disclosures in Ireland have resulted in mass exodus from churches, but Catholicism is booming in third world countries and sexual assault against children is often allowed because those children get regular meals and a place to live.

        It’s reprehensible.

    • Barry Scarfe

Yes, what she doesn’t seem to understand is that no-one is trampling on her beliefs as a Catholic but the state has the right to marry people of whatever sexual orientation IN ITS OWN RIGHT AS A STATE. After all, gay and bisexual people go to work and pay their taxes so why shouldn’t they be treated as equal citizens under the law? Religions are free to impose conditions on who they will marry ON THEIR PREMISES ONLY.

  • Pete Shaw

Stupid stupid woman, enough said !

  • Neil Rhodes

Heh heh. This is one of the more amusing articles I’ve read on here. I especially like the bit about how the Catholic slapper has black and white opinions on women. Most amusing.

Anyway, I expect (hope) this will be the first and last time I read anything about this silly cow as I’d sooner scoop my eyeballs out with a crowbar than watch Big Brother.

    • Steven Gregory

Your comment is delightful and cogent.

  • Pablo

Hahahaha, it’s okay luv, you’re a giant hypocritical topless model on Big Brother, you’re bottom of the barrel.

  • Chris in LA

So she admits she has no independent thoughts. Just as well.

  • Peeeps99

I’ve got nothing against topless models, I just personally don’t believe in them marrying.

Now, if I were to say that to her face, she would tell me where to go, and wtf has my personal beliefs got to do with her marrying. And I would agree, and say the exact same thing back.

    • gertieonherknees

I DO THIS!!!! except I say, I have had pro strong same sex marriage views even since I have given birth to a baby. And they say , but your a man your cant have a baby, and I reply, yes and you never been in love with some one of the same sex, now piss off

  • Psychologist

She says …. “I’m Catholic, it’s a very big part of my day to day life.” …. ! Yes dear it’s great for bimbos like you, it saves you having to think for yourself !

    • Steven Gregory

Nowadays it seems the only requirements to consider oneself “devout” are to hate gays and don’t have an abortion.

      • Jimmeh

I dunno, by the look of her I’d wager she’d had a few of those in her time.

        • Steven Gregory

There are many religious women who have abortions, but they don’t talk about it or stand up for the rights of other women.

      • Psychologist

Yes, Steven, sadly, I fear you’re right. Plus of course …. putting one’s self into second place, in order to put some mythical “sky-god” first !
        How disempowering is THAT !

        • Steven Gregory

Actually, a lot of religious people put “GOD” in second place: they want everything their way — win this game, heal my sickness, condemn everyone I don’t like to Hell — but what have they ever done for “GOD?”

          • Psychologist

Yes Steven, I take your point – so even their “worship” is all a con and false too ?

          • Steven Gregory

I’m certain there are people who are sincere, I knew a FEW of them when I was involved with religion; but it was very few. The rest would do a little something showy and make a big noise about it. One of the jobs of the deacons and ministers was to honk the horn of those who gave to make sure they got time in the spotlight, because it wasn’t cool to honk the horn yourself. But they got notice nevertheless.

          • Psychologist

Ahhhh ok … so giving a VERY public DISPLAY of believing – but deep down – not really feeling it !
            I can’t say I’m surprised – it’s all false anyway. It’s ONLY a product of operant conditioning.

  • Tristan

The only good thing about her vile opinions is that it sparks healthy debates!

    • Steven Gregory

      Robusty discourse!

  • Gareth

I actually love people like this! It’s this kind of ignorant, myopic hypocrisy that’s driving people away from religion in their droves. Soon it will be society’s equivalent of the racist elderly relative you occasionally have to humour at Xmas while, ironically, praying for divine intervention.

    • Steven Gregory

I once heard it put this way: it’s like the uncle who molested you, but paid your way through college.

      • geekham

Is that how you came by whatever education you received?

        • Steven Gregory

          What’s your problem?

          • geekham

I guess I’m antipathetic to people who eschew constructive debate and who prefer instead to promote themselves by writing cheap one-liners.
Please don’t respond with ‘f-cough’, you’ve tried that one already.

          • Steven Gregory

In other words you’re a condescending ass hole.

          • geekham

            Goodnight, Steven.

    • geekham

Her view is not ignorant, myopic or hypocritical, just different to yours. Such a pity that thought fascists like you are so intolerant of ‘the other’. Still, you are in good company posting on the PN site.

      • Gareth

You’ve never met a fascist have you?

        • geekham

If you mean in the flesh, I don’t know. But you don’t need to have met one to recognise intolerance when you meet it.

          • Guest

Jesus hates you by the way. He just told me.

          • geekham

I’m delighted you have the reassurance of Jesus’s confudence. Please let him know I forgive him.

      • Yilmaz

Of course it’s not at all hypocritical to spout her homophobic views based on her religious upbringing, which i’d be surprised to learn included being a topless model! what part of that doesn’t strike you as hypocritical
        .

        • geekham

It’s dismaying to see the word ‘homophobic’ used so irresponsibly, though this happens frequently in PN postings. I don’t see you’ve made any case for hypocrisy and I guess many things about religious belief would surprise you.

      • Psychologist

Why would ANYONE be tolerant – to someone else’s INTOLERENCE?

        • geekham

An amusing conundrum, and one which is probably insoluble. But don’t let that stop you trying.

          • Psychologist

Indeed, it won’t stop me. Thanks for the encouraging words.
Reading through another couple of your comments, you use the word “intolerant” several times to describe the response from the gay community towards people who publicly announce “intolerance” towards them – such as this girl has done.

So given that you avoided answering my question, which may well be my fault, in perhaps not phrasing it sufficiently well.

So please allow me to have a second attempt :-

Why SHOULD anyone tolerate, the intolerance from someone else towards them ?

Is it not simply human nature to defend ourselves from our aggressors, those who would discriminate against us, those who treat us as somehow “second class” (as black people once were) as well as from those who would reduce our self-esteem, and sense of self-worth and overall state of mental health via oppression, bullying, bigotry, hate, and intolerance ?

Do you REALLY expect gay people to endure all of that from homophobic and religiously conditioned intolerant people and yet NOT defend themselves ?

As a very experienced mental heath worker, involved in both psychological research and psychotherapy, I can tell you that the overall state of mental health in the LGBT community is statistically lower than in their heterosexual counterparts. The rate of suicide in (especially) gay men is also significantly higher than in their heterosexual counterparts.

The direct cause of this has been concluded to be as a direct result of all these “added” pressures and stresses, which sit on top of the usual pressures of everyday life, which we all have to deal with. These added stresses, such as constant discrimination, hatred, violence, fear of being intimidated, bullied, beaten up or even killed by homophobes ………. as well as comments such as this girl had made which publicly announces that same-sex marriage is wrong (albeit only in her view) – all causes a great deal of psychological damage to people. STRESS ! (along with high levels of depression, anxiety, self-harm, even suicidal thoughts).

Anyone with any sense of fairness, compassion, and love in their hearts, can not possibly accept this as being right, or being an acceptable way for human beings to treat each other.

Religious beliefs are not a “free ticket” to discriminate against people. Surely religion should be teaching people how to LOVE, not hatred and intolerance ?

Humanity and love will conquer all, in the end.

It HAS TO – in order for the human race to survive !

          • geekham

The simple answer is that if you won’t tolerate intolerance then you are guilty of the very thing you are criticising in the first place.

You have widened the issue on a number of fronts and I can only refer you back to what, according to the PN article, is what was actually said: ‘I’ve got nothing against homosexuals, I just personally don’t believe in same-sex marriage’. This seems to me to be simply the expression of a personal opinion and doesn’t suggest intolerance of anything. It is difficult to believe that experiencing opinions that one simply doesn’t agree with will drive someone to suicide and while, as an atheist, I agree that religious beliefs are not a ticket to indulge in discrimination in a free society one has the right to hold such beliefs.

          • Psychologist

First point – I don’t agree ! The amount of (specifically religious based) intolerance is often overwhelming toward the LGBT community. Whilst, I agree with you, that one simple opinion of thinking same-sex marriages are not right, is hardly likely to push someone to suicide, each one of these negative comments DOES add to the cumulative negative impact on people’s lives, over years of hearing such negative attitudes. Therefore to tolerate such a high level of intolerance towards a section of society, would be effectively “colluding with your oppressors”. Therefore tolerating someone else’s LACK of tolerance, not only isn’t right, nor make sense, – but intolerance should be challenged, and NEVER colluded with. Lack of challenging intolerance, discrimination, hatred, bullying etc …. would simply allow it to continue. (or worse, even escalate).

          • geekham

Fortunately in our free society we are free to challenge intolerance and, indeed, to tolerate it. But that same ethos of freedom allows anyone the freedom to say they find same-sex marriage wrong without, one hopes, provoking intolerant reactions in others; we all need to retain a sense of perspective.
I’ll leave you the last word.

          • Psychologist

Thank you for your gracious offer of me having the last word – I really don’t need to use it, as people who insist on having the last word to make their point, usually displays desperation.

So instead, I’ll simply say thank you for the exchange of thoughts, and your time to reply.

  • Rumbelow

“…same-sex marriage is ‘just not right’

So make sure you marry a bloke then love…K?

  • Phil H

Raised a Catholic, most of my family still practicing Catholics.

All there at my civil partnership (got some nice towels from the church women’s guild) and I suspect they’ll not cry if there’s an upgrade in that status to marriage.

Majority of Catholics in the UK know loads of gay folk and roll their eyes at any sort of prejudice. Most of them are really only about the gnostic part of their faith… The 2000 year old do’s and dont’s are something they can live without.

    • Raymond G. Whitham

I’ve got to say this about the Vatican. Unlike a lot of stupid idiots in the US, the Vatican officially believes in a God, the Bible, AND Darwin’s Theory of Evolution and that they are not in conflict with one another. That gives me hope that eventually, they will read up on the enormous amount of scientific evidence that humans and other species (plants, animals, etc.) have very diverse sexual behaviors, hermaphrodites, and even natural sexual male to female and female to male transitions. Then they may be able to discard Leviticus and replace it with science.

    • CHBrighton

My elderly (nearly 90) very catholic parents-in-law were present at our civil partnership and at the large party afterwards worked the room to speak to every single guest saying how proud they were of their son and me. On the other hand my 40-something airhead catholic neighbour, also present, said how nervous she was that her parish priest might find out she’d attended a civil partnership.

      • Craig Boden

Her parish priest is probably a closeted gay anyway. Some estimate that around 60% of catholic clergy are gay.

  • SM Kovalinsky

She is supposedly a strict Catholic, yet fails to follow it’s basic tenets on modesty and chastity—- and presumes to judge others. But why am I not surprised?

  • rapture

HaHa! another pathetic, grotesque BB wannabe . This reprobate is particularly disgusting in her homophobia, hypocrisy , what a vile piece of filth. Apparently, she already sold a sex/sleaze story on last years participant , so much for her virginal, catholic hypocrisy, ugly runt.

  • Raymond G. Whitham

Here we go again. Another bigot that “loves” us but believes she has the right to regulate us because of her filthy religious beliefs. How gullible does she take the LGBTQ+ community to be to buy into her “love” for us line?

  • James!

Big brother. Topless tart. The star. Pink news this is too low even by your standards

  • https://www.facebook.com/monica.cassidy.3 monica

I prefer the opinions of the average supermarket trolley ~ well at least each one I get seems to have a mind of its own! More seriously though, from the reasons that she has stated this is indoctrination and is tantamount to child abuse. Classic case of the abused becoming the abuser. How to break this cycle?

    • Steven Gregory

Chris rock has a priceless bit where he talks about his baby daughter: “My only job in life is to keep her off the pole!”
      http://bingenow.com/video?vidid=817

    • Psychologist

As usual Monica, I totally agree with you.
Such indoctrination (or conditioning, as we refer to it) is child abuse !

Abused becoming abuser ? Yes to that too. All too common !

This occurs by deployment of a Freudian defence mechanism “DISPLACEMENT” – where someone has had “bad feelings” generated in them from being abused in some way – then in order to rid themselves of “those bad feelings” an attempt is made to “externalise them” outwardly onto someone else. It’s classic … “had a bad day at the office – so come home and kick the cat” !

You probably know all this Monica – sorry ! Just to inform others really.

      • https://www.facebook.com/monica.cassidy.3 monica

Thanks for the response. Folk will think that I am your alias or alter ego or something!

Ah … yes; operant conditioning or otherwise known as ‘brainwashing’. Use of reinforcement techniques, repetition, chanting, singing and of course fear. Oh and at Sunday school you get stickers to reward your progress in being brainwashed.

… and oh, good job I don’t have a cat!

        • Psychologist

Yes Monica indeed, but you make so much sense, I really find it very hard NOT to agree with you.
Indeed “operant conditioning” as used by religions to “brain-wash” people into a belief system which has little to no factual evidence to support it.
          Oh and …… I use a “toy stuffed cat” …! :)

  • Craig Boden

If she is such a devout catholic, she should do a bit of research – there are several pope’s who “married” their male lovers.

  • Jordy

You folks on the other side of the pond have a word we don’t often use here in the States….TWAT.

  • john

I wonder if she has sex outside of marriage and I wonder how many times she’ll get divorced and re-married. She doesn’t exactly look like the virgin Mary.

    • Raybeard

…..and she presumably would NEVER use (God forbid! – literally!) artificial contraception!

  • vladkoholik

I always wonder how religious people keep saying they live their lives the way the bible says although they have to confess every week just to feel “clean” again.

    • Steven Gregory

That whole confession thing is a convenience.

For a short time I worked in a nightclub. Madonna had a new single and the PR firm asked us to do a release party. We went to the Dollar Store for inspiration — five of anything is a decoration, 100 of anything is its own party! We found inflatable Virgin de Guadalupes for $1 each. We went to three stores and bought all they had.

Most people loved them and wanted one. One guy came to the door infuriated, complaining of blasphemy. I told him it was sacrilege, not blasphemy, and to get over it: he was in a nightclub with a woman he planned to hook up with. Don’t get holy here.

  • lee

from someone who has to get her t*** out bye love – Oh so she is Catholic and it’s OK to flash your boobs – mind you she couldn’t flash her brain, there isn;t one clearly

  • Katie

““I’ve got nothing against homosexuals, I just personally don’t believe in same-sex marriage.”
She’s got *nothing against homosexuals*, she just doesn’t believe they should have the same equal rights as her because they’re er…homosexuals and she’s heterosexual and therefore believes that makes her innately deserving of superior rights. Hmm…sounds like blatant homophobia to me, whichever way she tries to package it! It would certainly be outright racism if she applied the same irrational ‘logic’ to other human beings of a different skin colour or ethnic origin, wouldn’t it?

  • Riondo

Clearly a woman of exemplary integrity who only works for magazines respectful of the teachings of Holy Mother Church. Errr…
You’re not just a hypocrite, my dear. You’re as thick as pigshit.

  • SpaceDandy

A tiger does not lose sleep over the opinion of sheep.

  • Wingby

I can see where she keeps her brain: both left and right hemispheres!

  • Bobbleobble

Strict catholic beliefs require attendance at mass on Sundays unless you have darn good reason and appearing on a reality TV show doesn’t count. Failure to attend mass without a good reason is a mortal sin. I can’t see BB ferrying in a priest once a week to minister to her. And given what else she gets up to I think it’s fair enough to say that she’s about as devout a catholic as Richard Dawkins. Seems only other people are supposed to be inconvenienced by her religion.

  • kane

says woman with her bare chest on the display, here is what jesus thinks of her

    luke 6:42

’42…How can you say to your brother, ‘Brother, let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when you yourself fail to see the plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.

  • Pádráig O’Gáirmléadháigh

…and a homophobic bigot has no place on Big Brother, so you are OUT when the first opportunity to vote your bigoted ass off the show presents itself!!

  • That There Other David

Tick tick tick. Yep, only 14 minutes of fame left….

  • D.McCabe

She doesn’t even realise the irony. No where in any religious teachings does it tell women to get their baps out in mens magazine.

My dad was an Irish Catholic, from a strict catholic up bringing and yet he was so accepting when I came out.

  • Colin Cass

So! Have half you’r priests gay & many others paedophiles & you’rchurch doe’s very little about it! You live you’r life taking you’r clothes off for money! I do not care how you make you’r money or that you listen to a church which needs a few lessons itself on morals, but I do care when you are misinformed & share hatefull beliefs with the media over a subject you know Nothing about! We are born gay you are born straight , how would you like it if you were told that it is wrong for you to marry the one you love!Keep you’r bigoted views to you’r self & don’t be hypocrite! Do the work you want to do but don’t hide behind religion be proud do you’r thing , don’t moralise &Don’t be a hypocrite!

  • spuddyulike

    Stupid girl to paraphrase Pink.

  • Jock S.Trap

So they have another controversial figure in there but not a racist because that would be wrong and rightly so.

But hey, I can see homophobia being a part of this years show but that’s ok because… It’s just damn wrong!

Seriously though why is this show still running? I can’t believe anyone with even one brain cell would be watching it!

  • Alexander Kelso Shiels

Where do these morons come from? Do people like her actually come from this planet.

Eh, its a sin to show your boobs in public if you are a catholic girl, Ms Straight and narrow; DON’T MAKE ME LAUGH!!

  • Benjie Watson

I’m sorry but am I understanding this correctly. I’m a strict Catholic female model who gets their nips out in lads magazines for money, but those gay marriages are ‘just not right’. This woman is clearly just seeking attention.

  • Teva Bruce

Silly, attention seeking nobody/tryhard,VOID attempting to be ‘controversial’ and ‘cutting edge’ by making statements such as these. The Big Brovver franchise in every market it’s been inflicted on has dubious ‘tradition’ of selecting desperate wannabee, never wases and stupid, vacuous bimbos and himbos, hags, slags dipsticks and molls.Nothing has changed and this, the latest in a long line of eye-rollingly BORING axe-wounds is no exception. She deserves nothing more than our scorn and ridicule and then she and her ilk may simply and completely, utterly and totally…

    Go away….
    and NEVER come back…
    EVER.

  • Rob

And what does the “Bible” say about posing topless? surely your body should just be for your husband’s viewing if your beliefs were that strong?

  • to_tell_the_truth

And her Catholic beliefs say NOTHING about the ‘morality’ of posing topless?????
    Selective fundaMENTALism at its best/worst!

  • Suddenly Last Bummer

Jeez, Big Brother is just a vehicle for trolls.

  • Marshal Phillips

She shows her naked breasts to the public for money, but she’s againt gays getting married cuz she’s a strict Catholic. Got it!

  • stevvie

bit of a two faced so n so, is it not catholics are also against nudity and porn, and are those breasts for real, or just as false as she is

  • Craig

Can’t help thinking we might all be missing the point here this just seems a bit out there to be the actual case to me, by which i mean i actually think this is no more than a silly persons way at attempting to become famous, after all some people would say that being a hated person means they are in peoples minds and call it a success?
