Boyband Blue will not perform at this year’s Pride Glasgow festival, organisers have announced.

The band’s management say they have pulled out of headling the event on 19 July due to “availability” issues.

Pride Glasgow said on its website: “It is with deep regret that we have to announce that one of the headline acts Blue has decided to pull out from the event despite being booked months in advance the band’s management contact Pride Glasgow and confirmed that ‘due an unexpected issue with Blue’s availability’ they would not be performing.

“We are currently sourcing a replacement for Blue and have been speaking to booking agents discussing a wide variety of acts and hope to be able to announce another act shortly.”

Pride Glasgow CEO Alastair Smith said: “This news is disappointing and we are currently sourcing a replacement, I would like to clarify for the benefit of doubt that this decision was not related to any contractual or fee issues but due to issues beyond our control relating to an unexpected issue with the bands availability and despite the news we are still set on having the biggest LGBT event in Glasgow this Summer.”

Blue were due to perform alongside Heather Peace, Lucy Spraggan, Amelia Lilly and Angie Brown.

The Pride Glasgow 2014 main event will take place from 12pm on 19 July at Glasgow’s King Street Car Park.
