A lesbian couple in popular BBC soap Eastenders are to try for a baby, actress Luisa Bradshaw has confirmed.

Her character Tina Carter, and her girlfriend Tosh, will start a family of their own following a recent decision to move in together.

Despite a recent kiss with long-time character Sonia Fowler, played by Natalie Cassidy, Tina will settle down with Tosh, said Bradshaw.

Asked on ITV’s This Morning, she said she was not aware of plans for the brief affair to go any further.

She said: “No, not this year. I’ve heard rumours, but I’ve got my girlfriend and we’re going to have a baby. Well, we’re going to try!”

Cassidy recently admitted she was ‘naive’ to quit the soap after her character was involved in a lesbian storyline.

She initially quit the show in 2007 after a storyline which saw her embark on an affair with another woman.
