A leaflet claiming gay men can be “cured” of their sexuality has been posted through letter boxes in Ely, Cambridgeshire.

The Ely Standard reports the leaflet likens homosexuality to paedophilia, claiming gay men indoctrinate school children through media propaganda and attempt to convert them to their way of life.

No name or group are printed on the leaflet, which began appearing on the doorsteps of Ely residents at the beginning of this month, but refers regularly to Christian scripture.

It opens with: “Homosexuality is not natural. It never has been and it never will be. God created man and woman for their mutual compatibility and for the procreation of children.”

Some of the excerpts claim homosexuality to be a cult through which the devil is channelled. It reads: “Homosexualism has become a cult. It belongs to the culture of death, and is ultimately inspired by that arch rebel, the Devil.”

On claiming it can be cured, the leaflet refers to homosexuality as a pathological condition, stating: “Homosexuality, as well as being a sin and a vice, is essentially a neurosis, a pathological condition.

“The condition of homosexuality can be treated and healed, as all distorted sexuality can be healed, and as many cases in recent years have proved.”

The leaflet ends by denying it is homophobic. It says the term is a misnomer, translating literally to “fear of men” and not fear of homosexuals.

Elsewhere, a UKIP local election candidate in Liverpool has linked homosexuality to paedophilia, leading to cross-party criticism.
