The NCAA’s first openly gay basketball player Derrick Gordon, has announced his relationship with CSI actor Gerald McCullouch.

The University of Massachusetts player became the first ever first division men’s basketball player to come out last month, and said he was inspired by gay NBA player Jason Collins.

The pair were seen attending the NYC GLAAD Awards at the weekend, and Gordon has since tweeted to confirm they are together.

The 22-year-old athlete and 47-year-old actor posed for photographers at the event, and both tweeted photos of themselves.

“A night that I will never forget and a night that I didnt want to end…It was an awesome night.THANK YOU GLAAD…@geraldmccullouch …@glaad #Epicnight#betrue #loveislove,” Gordon wrote on the caption of one image.

Responding to a Twitter follower who asked if the two were together, Gordon confirmed they are.

He said he “couldn’t be happier”.

McCullouch confirmed to E! News that the pair met a month ago, but had been in touch for some time.
